Castpilot is built local-first. The short version: your recordings are processed on your own computer and don't have to leave it. The only personal information we collect is what you give us directly — like an email address for early access.
Your recordings stay on your machine
Castpilot is a desktop application. Editing, clipping, captioning, and export all happen locally on your computer. We don't upload, store, or keep copies of your audio or video. When a feature uses Claude in the cloud (for example, finding your clips or writing your copy), only the specific text or images needed for that step is sent to process it — never your full media library — and it is not used to train models.
Cloud render (optional)
Rendering happens on your machine by default and your files never leave it. If you choose to render a particular export in the cloud — for a long episode, a slow computer, or while you're away from your main machine — only that file is uploaded, over an encrypted connection, and it is encrypted again at rest. It is rendered, returned to your library, and then automatically deleted. We don't keep your media and it is never used to train models. If your footage can't leave your machine at all, simply keep rendering local — it's the default.
Information we collect
- Email address — when you join the waitlist or create an account, so we can contact you about access.
- Account & billing — if you subscribe, our payment processor handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
- Basic product analytics — anonymous, content-free usage (which features run, how fast, what crashed) to improve the app. Never the contents of your recordings, transcripts, clips, or copy. It's off in Offline Mode, and you can turn it off anytime.
How we use it
To give you access, run your subscription, answer your questions, send you product updates you asked for, and improve the product. We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the business — for example, a payment processor for billing and an email provider for sending you messages. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
Your choices
You can turn off anonymous analytics anytime in the app (it's off automatically in Offline Mode), unsubscribe from emails at any time, ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it. To make a request, email privacy@castpilotapp.com.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and, for material changes, let you know directly.
